Bono defends Radiohead's 'In Rainbows'
Thom Yorke's band made In Rainbows available to download on a pay-what-you-want basis, something McGuinness felt U2 should not replicate.
In a letter to NME, Bono called Radiohead "courageous and imaginative in trying to figure out some new relationship with their audience".
He added: "Such imagination and courage are in short supply right now. [Radiohead] are a sacred talent and we feel blessed to be around at the same time."
U2's new album is expected to be released in October.

Nicolas Sarkozy - Bruni Sparks Outcry With Colombian Officials Over Cocaine Lyrical Link
French President NICOLAS SARKOZY's model and singer wife CARLA BRUNI has caused an outcry with leading Colombian officials, after seemingly mentioning the country's reported cocaine connection in a track from her latest LP.
In a song from her forthcoming album Comme si de rien n'tait (As If Nothing Had Happened), set to be released in July (08), the French first lady reportedly sings, "You are my drug/ More deadly than Afghan heroin/More dangerous than Colombian white."
Now the lyric has been lambasted by the South American country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fernando Araujo, who insists the illegal drug link is "painful" for Colombia.
He says, "From the mouth of the wife of the French president, this statement is very painful for Colombia. Such things come out when we mix politics with theatre."
However, Araujo is not seeking an apology from Bruni, who counts Sir Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton among her ex-lovers, but is hoping the lyrics will unite the world against drugs.
He adds, "And instead of making an apology for consumption, we hope that the entire world will join us in the war against drugs."
Bruni married the French President in January (08) after a whirlwind romance, just months after he had divorced his ex-wife Cecilia.

Canadian Idol Top 24: Marie-Pierre Bellerose
Marie-Pierre Bellerose, 25
Quebec City, Que.
Being on a show like Canadian Idol is a big and exciting step for Marie-Pierre Bellerose.
Like everyone else in the competition with her, music is her passion and being on stage singing in front of a band and audience is what Bellerose is looking forward to most.
I just really want to perform and interact with the band, I cant wait to do that, says Bellerose.
Theres just so much to do and so many interesting people to work with, like the vocal coach. This is what I want to do, so Im happy to be here.
Bellerose demonstrated her singing style to the Idol judges by singing songs like Black Velvet by Alannah Myles. She says she can sing a variety of styles, so that wont restrict her in terms of what shes capable of doing.
Im in love with Fiest I like Gwen Steffani I like a mixture of everything. I love Brit pop, too, just music overall, she says.
But most of all she loves singing, and wants to enjoy every minute she has in this singing competition including reaping all the benefits of being in Canadian Idol, including the exposure each competitor receives.
I just want to get out there, and I think we all can make something here, were all an incredible bunch of people. Theyre all so good, says Bellrose. But Im just going to give it my best.
